-------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome.

At this point I would like to give credit where its due. The mouse and
desktop icons have been borrowed from another Diablo Theme. There was no way
to contact the unknown author so it is in my hope that he/she doesn't mind my
use of his/her icons. I have made a modification in how they are
implemented, so both Themes aren't the same.

The sounds are entirely new and extracted off the Diablo CD itself,
with much time going into trying to find appropriate sounds for each
Windows event.

My hope is that you enjoy this theme as much as I did making it.

With that said, here goes..

**This theme is intended for use in high colour mode. If used in 256 colour mode, the icons,
background pic, cursors and windows colours will not display correctly.

INSTALLATION:
-------------
  1) Open the diablo_theme.zip file in WinZip.
  2) Click on the EXTRACT button.
  3) This will open the Extract Window. In the "Extract To:" box,
     select the C:\ directory.
  4) In the "Files" box, select "All Files".
  5) Check "Use Folder Names".
  6) Click on the "Extract" button. This will automatically
create a "Diablo Theme" folder in your Themes folder and
     extract the files there.
  7) Load the theme with the Desktop Themes control panel applet.

* The Exocet font used in Diablo is included in this zip as an added
bonus. (It is automatically extracted into the windows\fonts folder)

The background image is for 800x600 desktops. If your screen
isn't set at that, Plus! will size it accordingly providing you have
the "stretch desktop image" checked in the Display properties.
If you dont have Plus!, use a graphic editor to resize the pic.

The included screensaver is originally from the Plus! package though
I have renamed the file to a more suiting one. To set up the screensaver the way
its meant to be seen, make these quick changes:

  1) Open the Display properties in Control Panel
  2) Click the Screensaver tab and then select Windows 95
  3) Click the settings button
  4) Under 'Block Size', select Large.
  5) Under 'Speed', make it 3
  6) Enable 'Use Wallpaper' so that there is a check mark in the box

* The screensaver is automatically extracted to the windows\system folder

FUTURE CHANGES AND GENERAL ISSUES
---------------------------------

- If I ever get around to doing v1.3, I will be adding startup/shutdown screens and making
an original screensaver. Though at this point I find it highly unlikely that I'll invest
my time into a v1.3. The interest in Diablo is slowly dwindling since the release
  of Starcraft.

- Considering adding Rogue, Mage and Monk voice sounds to the zip so that the user has
a choice in which class he/she hears. I've only had a few requests on this, but not
enough in my opinion to spend hours searching the CD for appropriate sounds. Plus the
fact that if I didnt split each of the classes sounds into a different zip, the download
would be HUGE.. another thing to take up my time, and another reason not to do it. If you
would like the option to tailor the theme to the class of your choice, email me and
let me know. Your email could make the difference!

- Some users wrote and said that the colours are too dark on their screen and they want
them brighter. If the colours are too dark for you, all I have to say is this:
Turn up the contrast and/or brightness on your monitor.
I don't mean to be rude when I say that but I chose the darker colours to reflect
the evil and brooding mood of Diablo. If you don't like them, change them optionally
on your own computer. I take no offense but I won't change them internally in the theme.
It's simply a case of creative differences.

- ...Or some users wrote just simply asking what colours they're supposed to be seeing.
Well, the windows are supposed to be dark gold (intended to simulate a moss covered dungeon
wall) with a purple title bar. That's it! If you don't see them correctly, it could
be that you don't have Windows set to 16-bit (high) colour in the Display control panel.
